Definitely coming back for the lamb skewers!! They also had bone marrow which was such a good price for only $16! Chicken wings were alright, so I probably would not order that again.
The spicy beef hotpot was good as well but we were so stuffed.
Oh and they serve soju! (Only apple though) -

DID NOT RESPECT RESERVATIONS MADE FAR IN ADVANCE FOR A PLANNED BIRTHDAY PARTY + RUDE STAFF/ MANAGEMENT -
If I can give a negative star I would - I booked a reservation in advance for a large group of 20 for a *surprise birthday party I was planning for my boyfriend for Sept 13th and the server/hostess gave me an okay that they were able to accomodate it. The party was set to start at 8:00pm, I dropped off balloons/cakes around 5 pm that day, the server went over the section that she would reserve off for me and I gave a friendly reminder that all the attendees will be 15 minutes early for the surprise - she fully acknowledged and assured me severely times that they would be ready.
To a shocking surprise when I arrived that evening, I found 20 of my guests still waiting outside at 8:10 with no signs of a table being available anytime soon even though the server said it will only be another "10 minute wait". This "10 minute wait" turned into 1.15hr wait and we weren't even seated yet (9:10 on a 8:00pm reservation). I can't begin to tell you all how frustrated I was as they did not respect my reservations and lied about the wait time. The manager was no where to be found and disappeared after 30 minutes and the servers did not seem to even care at all and clearly understaffed. I wouldn't be as livid if they told me ahead of time that they weren't able to accomodate my party so I can make alternative plans but they gave me no time and were not considerate to the situation at all.
For a place that prides themselves on their official website that they love having people who enjoy eating and having a good time in their house as they want their guests to feel like it's their own living room, they definitely did not stand by what the definition of home stands for and lacked customer service standards in the restaurant industry.
I ended up calling multiple restaurants on a Friday night to see if anywhere can take my party, I ended up going to a favourite place of mine down on Steeles, they opened up their party room for me after explaining my situation and the customer service and food was amazing, which made up for our terrible experience earlier.
As for Woodhouse 烤8喝9 - I did not get to try their food but the experience itself already left a bad taste in my mouth and it's enough for me to put it on the back burner. I'll be sticking to my usual bbq skewer spots for the future. -

This place used to be named Shu Xiang but ever since they renamed it we didn't find the quality or the menu of the place changed much.
We come here some time with our friends and most of the dishes here are delicious. The fish fillet with picked vegetable soup, the deep fried spicy chicken soft bone, the fried egg with lufah and black fungus are some of their signature dishes. These dishes show the chef's solid cooking skills.
The lamb skewer and the spicy noodle here are average though. -

Located near Yonge/Sheppard, I was delightfully surprised to find that there was free underground parking for this restaurant. Although pretty sketchy looking with limited spots, it's still awesome for those who don't live nearby and would otherwise not come because of paid parking.
I came with a party of 4 and we ordered BBQ lamb skewers, BBQ beef skewers, BBQ chicken skewers, eggplant with garlic sauce, sauteed green beans, house special fried rice, and red bean pancake. Everything was tasty and the portion sizes were fair. I forgot to ask for reduced spiciness for the food but even then, I really enjoyed the flavours of all of the dishes! They definitely packed a kick but it was a fragrant and sweet kind of spicy, not the kind that burns your soul.
For ~$25/person after tax and tips, eating here was definitely a treat but that's expected - I still think this place is a great option for when you're craving BBQ skewers and other extra flavourful dishes!
Be warned though that you might unfortunately get seated next to some very rowdy tables as that comes with the territory of going to Chinese BBQ joints that serve alcohol.. It was the case for me and it really affected my dining experience because they had a party of 15+ who were all just screaming at the top of their lungs. -

The wife and I were in the mood for some bbq skewers so we checked Yelp and it led us to this place. We were impressed with the interior decoration upon arrival, it had this nice rustic/cozy feel minus the hardcore rap music blaring in the background which was not bad but an ambient/lounge music would have probably been more fitting but anyway let's get to the food.
We ordered the following:
- 8 lamb skewers
- 4 pieces of scallops with vermicelli garlic
- 4 pieces of BBQ wing skewers
- 4 pieces of sausage skewers
- Szechuan style hot pot
When the food came we dove right into the skewers and unfortunately it didn't live up to the high ratings according to our taste buds. The skewers weren't bad but I cannot say they were excellent. It tasted like it needed a bit more seasoning and we had way too many pieces where the lamb was not edible, some pieces were hard and chewy as hell.
The chicken wings and sausage are just MEH and the scallops were CRAZY salty!
To be honest out of all the items we ordered, only the Szechuan style hot pot tasted excellent. Here's the best part, it costed only 14 bucks for the hot pot dish and it was huge!!!! It tasted VERY close to what you would find at the Bone Soup Malatang place and for those who have eaten there, you would know how expensive it can get per bowl as you keep cramming in the toppings. You can easily get it for 20 bucks a bowl if you are not careful at Bone Soup Malatang but at this place, the Szechuan hot pot comes with lots of toppings and it tasted very good just for 14 bucks and can easily feed 2 ppl!
So overall, we would come back just for the Szechuan hot pot.
